As a family, we have been greatly blessed by our faith in Christ, who has been the center of our life and our sure foundation. Through our daily scripture study we have learned to rely on Him in all our challenges and to trust Him. He has never failed us. He has always helped us overcome our weaknesses and trials. We know that Jesus suffered for our sins, bled from every pore in the garden of Gethsemane, and was crucified to free us from Satan’s grip. This knowledge has opened our heart to the need to be worthy of his sacrifice and unconditional love for each one of us.
Jesus is our friend and we have never felt alone. His “arms of mercy” have been around us not only when we’ve had challenges, but also when we were happy. He has held us and is still holding us in the palms of His hands. We have come to believe Him when He said: “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you” (John 14:18). We have seen the Lord’s hand in every stage of our life. Friends and family members have also been present in critical times. We are so grateful for these Christ-like people who were there when we needed a smile, a hug, or just few words of encouragement and counsel.
We love this prophecy of a Book of Mormon leader who lived before Christ: “For behold, the time cometh…that the Lord Omnipotent…shall come down from heaven among the children of men…and shall go forth amongst men, working mighty miracles, such as healing the sick, raising the dead, causing the lame to walk, the blind to receive their sight, and the deaf to hear…. And lo, he shall suffer temptations, and pain of body, hunger, thirst, and fatigue, even more than man can suffer, except it be unto death; for behold, blood cometh from every pore, so great shall be his anguish for…his people. And he shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God….” (Mosiah 3:5-8).
We bear testimony that He lives, that He is our Redeemer and Savior. He knows how to sustain us. His power can lift and bless us daily, as we exercise our faith in Him.
