God’s plan for our happiness and salvation answers three big questions: Where did we come from? Why are we here? Where do we go when we die?Where did we come from? Why are we here? Where do we go when we die?
Where we came from. Before we came to earth, we lived as spirits with Heavenly Father. We were part of His family. He loved us, and we loved Him. He taught us His plan for us. Central to this plan was the role of Jesus Christ. As the Savior, He would help us overcome the costs of our mortal learning, including sin and death. Through Christ, all God's children would have the opportunity to return to His presence.Where we came from. we lived as spirits
Why we are here. To help us progress, God created the earth and sent us here to gain a body, to learn by faith, and to choose to follow Him. We have the chance to learn and live the gospel, to be tested, and to prove our desire to return to God. While here, we all sin or fall short of our divine potential. However, God has not left us alone. Through the centuries, He sent prophets to teach us to repent and turn to Him. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to show the way and to overcome sin and death. And God has once again established His Church to guide us, with living apostles and prophets. With faith and sincere effort, we can prepare to return to Him.Why we are here. God created the earth and sent us here
Where we are going. After this life our bodies remain on earth, but our spirit self returns to God to learn and serve in a world of spirits until the glorious resurrection. Resurrection is the reunion of our spirits with our body—a glorious body that will never die. Jesus Christ was the first to be resurrected. He made it possible for all to be resurrected and to live forever. Once we are resurrected, Christ will also be our Judge. Based on our actions and desires—on who we have become—we will inherit a kingdom of glory. We seek the celestial kingdom to live in the presence of God.Where we are going. returns to God
