Restoration of the Gospel

    Restoration of the Gospel

When Jesus was on earth, He taught His gospel. He also called apostles, gave them authority, and organized His Church. Sadly, after He was crucified and the apostles were killed, that original Church began to fade away. There was much confusion. The apostolic authority was lost. Key doctrines were changed. The 'Dark Ages' began.

After centuries of preparation, God determined to restore His Church and authority to earth. He called another prophet, like Abraham or Moses. Through this prophet, Joseph Smith, Christ again established His true Church and His authority on the earth. Angels from Heaven came to restore God's truth—the pure gospel of Jesus Christ. Additional scriptures were given, including the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It stands with the Holy Bible in teaching true doctrine. The same organization that existed in the time of Christ was recreated. Apostles were called to lead the way. Miracles occurred amid trial and great sacrifice. Holy temples were once again built as the House of the Lord.

Since it was restored in 1830, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has grown and spread across the earth. Over a million missionaries have shared their witness with people of all faiths. Today, it includes some 15,000,000 members in nearly 200 countries.
